Sherborne Schools’ Eng. Lit. Group 12/11/2010

A new English Literature discussion group is starting next Tuesday16th November.
All of the Sherborne schools are involved and the first meeting will be at the Girls’ School at 5 pm next Tuesday. Students will take it in turns to present a topic of literary interest and discussion will follow. Students from the other schools are lined up for the first meeting but it is hoped that we will contribute to future sessions.
It is particularly aimed at those studying Literature now and aspiring to A grades and to pursue the subject at university – but others are welcome if they are interested.

Then enter our arts critics’ competition, and show us what you’re made
of.
This is your chance to impress a panel of stellar judges from across
the arts – rapper Tinchy Stryder, TV presenter Fearne Cotton, Royal
Ballet principal Tamara Rojo, architect Amanda Levete, playwright Alia
Bano, artist Yinka Shonibare, TV choirmaster Gareth Malone and film
producer Andrew Eaton.
Just send us a review of between 300 and 350 words of an album, show,
film, concert, building or exhibition that inspires, disappoints or
annoys you this summer. The closing date is Friday August 27 2010.

Think you can write a song or rap? Schools/colleges in the South West are invited to submit a short video, animated if you prefer, to accompany a song or rap which you have composed in a foreign language. Talk to your languages teacher or Ms. Chavelier if you are interested.
The closing date for entries is Friday 25th June 2010.

Joint Schools’ Project for Years 7 and 8 03/12/2009

An exciting new project will shortly be announced at assemblies for Years 7 & 8. This will involve working with students from the Girls’ School and Prep School. If you miss the announcement you can get an application letter from Mr Shackleford.
